Going Home - Healing Hearts Charity Sip

Jamie had been in this situation more often than he liked, and he didn't care for it. To be honest, he was fucking fed up with it by now. And he didn't even curse.
"So, where are you going this time? Congo? Iraq?" Colin had a habit of choosing the most dangerous places on the planet when he left. Those were the places that needed him the most, he said.
Right now, Jamie needed him here.
"Italy." Colin looked slightly embarrassed.
"Italy?" Jamie tried not to shout. "What the f..." No. No cursing. "What on Earth will you be doing in Italy -- putting little band-aids on Roman tourist's sore feet?"
"I'll be working as a medical advisor for the UN. They have a base in the south of Italy, somewhere called Brindisi. I'm not going out again like before." The familiar haunted look was back on Colin's face.
It hurt deep down to hear Colin stating the fact in that quiet voice. Jamie knew why the man didn't want to work in the field anymore -- or rather, he knew the outline of the story: Kidnapping of Colin and a fellow doctor in the north of Niger. Colin had come back;, the colleague hadn't. That was about as much as Jamie had been able to get out of Colin since the man had come home, and Jamie was the person who was closest to Colin in the whole world. Colin had come back a different, subdued man, and Jamie hadn't known what to do other than giving Colin time.
Now Colin wanted to leave him. Again.
"You said you didn't mind, Jamie." Colin looked at Jamie, a pleading look on his face. "You said I should go if I got the opportunity."
"I didn't mean it."

Wow…just wow![...] C.B. Conwy has reached out to my heart with Going Home, but also has me asking the question “how much do you have to give before you’ve done enough?” This is answered beautifully in C.B. Conwy’s touching story and very sweet romance. It’s definitely worth the price of admission!
